Golf Tournament Information


Wismer FoundationThe Wismer Foundation Golf Tournament and Coaching Award Presentation Dinner is the primary fundraiser to support the foundation. This event hosts the presentation of the Wismer Award for High School Coaching Excellence. The tournament is being held on Tuesday, May 29th, 2012 at
Carlisle Golf and Country Club, located at 523 Carlisle Road, Carlisle, Ontario.

Please join us for our 9th Annual Wismer Foundation Golf Tournament and Award Presentation Dinner on Tuesday, May 29th 2012 at Carlisle Golf & Country Club. This value packed event supports the Wismer Foundation, which annually presents the Wismer Award for Academic and Athletic Excellence to an exceptional male and female student-athlete graduating from Barton High School with a cash scholarship to assist with the continuation of their post-secondary education. As well, the foundation presents the Wismer Award for High School Coaching Excellence to an active high school coach within Hamilton Wentworth. Kids Count, Sports Matter Community Initiaive has partnered with Children's Wish Foundation of Canada. They will be the beneficiary of this years event.

The Wismer Foundation was established to continue the legacy of John Wismer and promote his love of students and athletes. John leaves a legacy of fairness, steadfast consistency, and solid values, demonstrated throughout his life and in his roles as teacher, coach, husband, and father. Those who knew John best admired his integrity, incredible spirit, respect for people, and frankness.Born and raised in Kitchener, Ontario, John developed a passion for sports from a very early age, and excelled in baseball, football and rugby.

John Wismer-Biography

John Wismer was a dedicated teacher for the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board for thirty-three years.

John's career began in 1956 at Central High School and in 1961, he moved to Barton High School where he became the head of Physical Education. He retired from Barton in 1989 after dedicating over three decades of his life to his schools and his students.

John Wismer spent many years coaching athletics; he coached basketball and then went on to coach football for twenty-two years.
